Should I use Clomid?

I got pregnant (suprise) in May...then miscarried in June. My Dr. already wants me to take Clomid. I've always had periods that are close to two months apart, and my Dr. thinks I don't ovulate correctly. Well clearly I must have ovulated atleast once. I don't quite understand why he was so quick to prescribe this drug to me.

Answers:
First I want to address the "cancer link". The latest studies show that Clomid does not present a link to cancer, rather it is the actual infertility itself that brings the link to cancer. So it is the type of woman that NEEDS Clomid that is at a higher risk for ovarian cancer.

If your periods are that far apart, then you are not ovulating normally. From what I have read, late ovulations present a higher rate of miscarriage because the quality of the ovulation is diminished.

I had a very similar problem and dismissed my doctor's advice, several years later I ended up taking the Clomid and conceiving my son. Several wasted years.
I'm NOT a doctor, but it sounds surprising to me too. I thought Clomid was to increase the chances of fertility by inducing ovulation. If you're trying to get pregnant, then that would be the reason. If he's just trying to regulate your cycle, there should be other ways of going about that.
