femara for fertility?

has anyone used femara for fertility. what dose and how many tries. i used 5mg and had a follicle grow to size of 10. but dr said it had to be at least 16. they said they will try 5mg one more time only (the max dose according to them) if that dont work then i need to try something new.i am also on metformin 2000mg a day
i used gonal-f to have my son but the military wont pay for anything but clomid and femara so all i need is advise on femara please. oh and also i have poly cystic overian syndrome

I've been using Clomid and not responding well to it so I will be starting Femara soon. The max dose is actually 7.5mg, not 5 but a lot of drs. won't go that high eventhough it's safe. There is another drug that can be using in combination with the metformin to control the insulin resistance--it's called Avandia. You may want to ask your dr. about it.
