Is it possible to feel pain when you're ovulating?

I feel terrible pain in my stomach about once a month, NOT during my period. Could it be ovulation? I never heard of that causing pain...

Answers:
Sure you can and there is a name for this: Mittelschmerz is one-sided lower-abdominal pain that occurs in women at or around the time of ovulation. About 20% of women experience mittelschmerz, or pain associated with ovulation. The pain may occur just before, during, or after ovulation.
