Does anyone in here have a very irregular period, but has kids? Was it hard to conceive? How long did it take?

Answers:
yes, I have a very irregular periods. I charted my fertility and found that my cycle ranged from 29 days to 36 days. And yes, I do have a child.

Women ovulate about 14 days before your period, but since your period is irregular you can't predict when you're going to ovulate. What I did was natural family planning. I bought the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It showed me how to chart my temperature, and my cervical fluid. Together I charted for 4 months until I was 'used' to my body's fertility signs and on the 5th month when my husband and I were ready--we got pregnant.

I would highly recommend this book. Also, visit the website at http://www.ovusoft.com there are more info there and you could look around and decide whether to buy the book or not.

Yes, I was very irregular, too, but when my husband and I finally decided to have a baby, I got pregnant on the first try (the first try being the first menstrual cycle). The problem was, my cycle ended up being very, very long that time :-p When my OB did the first sonogram, he expected me to be 9 weeks along, but I was actually only 2. He scared me by saying, "Well, you could just be not as far along as we think due to an irregular cycle (duh, that's what I've been trying to tell you), or this could be the begininngs of a miscarriage." Scared the crap out of me... I knew that my cycle was irregular, but just saying the "M" word out loud.... well, luckily it turned out that everything was fine. I now have two beautiful twin girls that are nearing their first birthday :-)

P.S. Something I just found out today... it may have actually been BECAUSE I had an irregular period, that I conceived identical twins. There's a theory that identical twinning can be linked to the aging of an egg after ovulation or an "over-ripe" egg.

i do i can go months without a period and not be pregnant but i have a 3 month old son i was on the ortho tri cyclin pill and then one day i quit taking it and the next month i was pregnant dont give up it will happen when the time is right i know this is probably not what you want to hear, & I'm not trying to scare you. My cycle ranges from 32-59 days I have been trying to conceive for 14 months now. So I'm in the same boat as you...Good luck.

I to have irregular periods, I also bleed very heavy and have a lot of cramping. I have 2 children and it took about a year and a half, each time, to get pregnant with them. Just talk to your doctor to see if their is an underlying problem, then go from there.

I have irregular but conceived twice with no medical help. The first time took about 1 month and the second we weren't even trying. When I say irregular, I mean like 30-40 day cycles. You can take an ovulation predictor kit and it will help out alot.

Yes I had a very irregular period before having kids. I would go 3-5 months at a time without seeing my period. When I decided I wanted a baby it took me 5 months to get pregnant, but it happened. My second pregnancy took only 2 months. You just have to be very patient and the time will come. I now have two beautiful daughters(3 and 1 yr. old).
GOOD LUCK!
