I scared.... pls help...?

I just recently had a miscarriage on 5/27/06 at 5 wks. My dr called me back today saying that there was some abnormal cells detected from my pap sear and scheduled me to see an oncologist. I'm scared b/c i don't know what that means. My appt is in a mnth. What are adnormal cells? Can that affect me getting pregnant again?

Answers:
Both my best friend and I have had abnormal cells before. I think we both had cervical biopsies (not fun but definitely worth it for an answer). You were referred to an oncologist bc they have the most experience with abnormal cell growth and will be able to give you more direct answers. Don't assume you are referred to an oncologist bc your gyno thinks you have cancer.

You can not worry until there is something to worry about. Waiting is the cruelest part, but think postive thoughts and know that statistics are on your side.

Most of the time it is not cancer BUT it is good to have it checked out just in case. Early detection is so important.

I'm sorry, but if you need to see an oncologist, that means that cancer is a possibility. Start praying and doing some research, and don't miss that appointment. Good luck, honey. Well getting pregnant is the least of your worries right now. He thinks that you might have some sort of cancer. Cervical, ETC. If you are religious now is a good time to pray for your own health and not for a baby.

If he's scheduling you for a visit with an oncologist, presumably he thinks you have cancer.

There are several possibilites. If he has scheduled you to see an oncologist, then there is the possibility of cancer....but he could also just be checking things out to be on the safe side. Just try not to stress over it too much so you will not make yourself sick (you don't need that worry on top of everything else). I will keep you in my prayers!! Good luck and God bless!

I had the same thing. I have had 3 miscarriages due to this but my last preg was good due to med. I had a healthy baby girl. It is serious but with the right doctor and meds you can have a baby. Don't give up
