We're waiting to adopt. How long did you have to wait adopting through foster care?
We have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
To those of you that have adopted through Foster Adopt...how long was YOUR wait to get the call?

Yikes, not every woman can get pregnant easily... I applaud you for wanting to adopt no matter what your reason. We started the foster to adopt program in Texas, but had to move before we were approved, but I know my state gave us the option to ONLY foster adoptable kids; this is what I chose because I could not bear to see a child go back to a bad home.
Each state runs the program differently, so I would call your local DCFS and see what their average wait is. My best friend got TWO sibbling sets approved for her home before they were 100% approved, and she was told that after 6 months of them in her home she can start the adoption process, but due to a freeze of placements because of an investigation into a child death a few counties over the children have not been placed.

why not have a child of your own? raising another woman's child is just that, not a child of your own and believe me, teen and adult adoptees often return to their natural families, given half a chance.
even get re-adopted back to their real families. and legally changing their names back. i know several adult adoptees who are doing this.
infant adoption, and even adoption through foster care, are social experiments of this century and of this country (U.S.). they aren't done in other nations, where fostering is done and then the child is expected to naturally return to their own family when they're ready.
try for a child of your own, or an embryo adoption where you can bond with the child in-utero because this is where the bond first develops. just make certain you know hte genetic parents so that the child can meet them eventually and get all medical, psychological, and personality trait questions answered because these are all inherited characteristics.
