Does anyone know if your cervix mucus changes when you become pregnant?

I was wondering if anyone knows if your cervix mucus changes at all when you first become pregnant? I check my cervix mucus for ovulation purposes and was wondering if there was anything I could look for with the cervix mucus when I would first become pregnant. My hubby and I are TTC and I think I may have this last time we tried, but it is too soon to take a pregnancy test. My period is not due until sometime between Aug 15-18th. The only thing I have been expereincing is a little tummy sickness off and on through out the day, but I am not sure what it is from, It could be from being pregnant (if we did hopefully concieve) or it could simply be becasue I think that we did. They say if you think you are sometimes your body acts like it, so I was hoping maybe to find out something to look for with the cervix mucus. I hope this is not confusing and misunderstanding in anyways. Thank you so much for everyones help on this.

When you are pregnant, the glands that produce your cervical mucus go into overdrive. This helps form the mucus plug in your cervix that protects the pregnancy and uterus from infection. You would likely have an increase in discharge, rather than the drying up or complete absence of mucus that is normal when approaching your menses. Good luck! :)
Yes I agree with the first answerer - your cervical mucus discharge increases as your body starts to make that mucus plug to seal off your cervix. Also, some women say that the smell and consistency of their mucus discharge changes when they are pregnant. So, since you are already checking your CM, you can probably spot the difference when you get pregnant. For most women, they just say that the discharge increases so much they have to use a pantyliner to keep themselves from feeling wet all the time. I do remember getting a lot of discharge when I was pregnant, although I can't remember if it was different from the normal discharge.

Just an update: I read on FertilityFriend.com that checking your cervical mucus and cervical position after ovulation won't really help you determine if you have gotten pregnant, because the cervical mucus and cervix position returns to post-ovulatory phase - meaning that regardless if you have conceived or not, your CM will not increase significantly, in fact it will exhibit the pattern seen after ovulation - which would be scant discharge - and the position of your cervix will exhibit your unfertile or least fertile phase (your cervix will go back to being hard and low, compared to when you are fertile, the cervix stays high and is soft). But remember that it always varies with women - some really say that they feel a significant increase in their discharge when they were pregnant. If you know the normal pattern of your CM then like what I said, you will be able to tell the differenc, if there is any. But if you don't feel any difference, don't lose hope and think that you haven't gotten pregnant, because there is a possibility that you could be without noticing any changes in your cervical mucus. You will just have to wait until you can test with a home pregnancy test as soon as you miss your period.

Goodluck with the TTC and I do hope you're pregnant. I'm expecting my period on the 15th as well, and we're also TTC, so I'm in the same boat as you.

=)
