It would be *extremely* unlikely that you could ovulate 2-3 days before your period. It would be a sign of a serious hormonal imbalance and would render you infertile.
A woman ovulates about 2 weeks (usually 12-16 days) before her *next* period. If an egg is fertilized, it takes it at least about a week to travel to the uterus to start implanting. If you are ovulating less than 10 days before your period, there isn't time for the fertilized egg to make it to the uterus before your period starts (or before it is too late to stop it). So you will necessarily have miscarriage after miscarriage.
It is, however, common for a woman to have a day or two of wet cervical fluid right before her period. And some women have spotting around the time of ovulation. So probably you are either *not* having fertile cervical fluid and having a period...or having fertile cervical fluid followed by ovulation bleeding.

This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive. My Doctor recommended it to me and after 1 year of trying I got the book. It worked the very next month. It turns out that my timing was wrong due to mis-information. I hope it helps you, too! It's not only about getting pregnant. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!
