That would be cousins marrying cousins. Go back to the bible. Lotts daughters seduced him. The story never told of birth defects. The Indian tradition-I have never heard about. It would depend upon which generation of Indians you are referring to. For example-white women are prone to osteo- porosis. What caused that? Was it genetic? Was it a mutated gene? More than likely-it had nothing to do with the race inbreeding. With the Indians- some groups are prone to alcoholism. Is that caused by marrying cousins? More than likely-no. Certain groups are more prone to genetic abnormalities than others. Someday they will be able to answer whether or not there was a problem and the reasons that caused it. No one can conclusively answer your question until the research is finished. My guess- it will be 200 years from now.
