my wife and i are about to try to get pregnant through anon sperm donor.?

my wife and i are about to try to get pregnant through an anonomous sperm donor bank. she's the one that's carrying it (we're lesbians). she's been pregnant once, but miscarried at age 17. she has no health problems, but is 6 ft tall, 29 yrs old, and 260 pounds. our doc told us after an exam that we should have no more trouble getting pregnant than if we were a hetero couple doing it the old fashioned way. what are our chances, if we time her ovulation correctly, that we'll get pregnant on the first home insemination?

Answers:
I would go to a clinic and have a doctor perform an IUI that way you will know for sure she is ovulating and it will be performed in the best way so that she can conceive. Otherwise it kind of is a crap shoot. If you really want to do it at home you would have to time ovulation using basal body temperature, ovulation predictor kits, cycle length, etc. A hetero couple that isn't using protection has a 20% chance of getting pregnant every month, so I would assume lower than that if you only have one chance at hitting ovulation time. Also do she know why she had the miscarriage? Was it early in the pregnancy or late? An early miscarriage once is not a determination of fertilty. I had 2 miscarriages, one a blighted ovum early (and commen) and then a molar pregnancy (freak occurance) and then a healthy girl. Good luck and I hope you get the baby you have been dreaming of!

Other Answers:
well if she cant do it this time than try to do it yourself i mean, your both women and both of you have the same thing. if it doesnt work with her try it with yourself. if she had problems in the past hopefully this time it will work if not, you know what to do.
do you mind me asking how you went about finding a doner?

i think you can check her temperature everyday and getsome sort of chart to show you the best time to inseminate? i think you're meant to do it a few times per cycle to increase the chances

good luck im sure it will work out fine :)
The chances of getting pregnant with frozen sperm are better via IUI. Frozen sperm usually only lives for 24 hours so it is more difficult to get pregnant via home insemination. I had two attempts at home using frozen sperm and it did not work. Trying IUI now. Go to http://www.artificial-insemination-for-lesbians.com it is written by a lesbian woman for lesbian couples.
