Can anyone tell me the risks for my partner who is 43 and wants a baby, any help will be great?

Answers:
I am guessing that you are a man. Having a child when you are older than 35 comes with risks. Such as an increased likelyhood to have a child born with down's syndrome to name one. Women who have children later in life generally have more risk to their own health as well. Talk to a doctor or say someone at a planned parenthood location near you. There are doctors who specialize in this area as well. Just make sure that you know the risks before hand. All the best wishes for a healthy and beautiful baby!

Other Answers:
There's a higher risk of chromosomal disorders. In addition, if your partner has other health issues, she needs to make sure they won't worsen with pregnancy.

Usually, it is recommended to go through amniocentesis at that age.

If she wants a baby - tell her not to wait. 43 is already pushing it in terms of fertility.

I had 2 babies when I was over 35. I'm not sure of the exact percentages but women over 35 have alot higher rate of having a baby with Downs Syndrome
It increases with every year of age.

try http://www.babycenter.com

downs syndrome is higher the further away from 30 you get.
there are others, also. try the website above or talk to her ob/gyn The increase for Down's Syndrome is only by 3-5%, so it's really not that big of a risk. If she really wants a baby then the risk isn't big enough to NOT have a baby. I say go for it!
