5 months without my period... how do I become regulated without birth control?

I used to have dermoid cysts on my ovaries... which were removed back in Feb. '06. I used to have my period monthly before the surgery. I have had one period since then (back in March). It's now been almost 5 months without AF... I am not pregnant but my husband and I are trying to conceive. My question is... how do I get my period regulated without the use of birth control?

Answers:
i am going through the same. I have a hormonal imbalance. My dr. prescribed medroxyprogesterone aka provera. Not a birth control but a pill that will regulate cycles some women only take it for a few months and their cycle is restored. Some never have theirs without this pill. If you do not have a monthly period this does not mean that you do not ovulate. If you do get preg. on this medicine please be aware of the side effects and if taken during early preg. I do believe that it can cause early miscarriage. You woul want to talk to you dr. to find out what is best for you. Maybe they need to run blood tests and have an HSG done. You could also go the herbal route and try Vitex Agnus-Castus found at any health food store known for supporting female hormonal imbalance.
