what is the proper time to detect pregnancy through ultrasound?

my home pregnancy test is negative..last 4 days my period is due.. i want to check my pregnancy with ultrasound from doc's..what is proper week after my last period date is to take ultrasound?Is it accurate compare to urine test?

If the HPTs are negative and your period is past due and still hasn't shown, you might want to think about checking in with an OB/GYN to see what's going on. It's possible that you are pregnant and the test simply isn't showing it. It's also possible that there's something else going on... or nothing else.

As for the ultrasound, trust me when I say this... with ultrasound they can see the baby and detect any heartbeat at five weeks along.
