I was told in July that I have PCOS. I have have been taking the same medicine that you are on for about a year now to treat a problem with low female hormones and high male hormones. My male hormones are alot higher than they should be. My female hormones are lower than they should be, but not as low as yours. This medicine gives me more energy, helps regular my periods, and helps my hormone levels. I became pregnant at the end of June and had a miscarriage at the beginning of August due to nothing that I did. The baby had something wrong with it and was not growing at the rate it should have been. This medicine has helped me a get deal. My doctor has me taking that medicine as well as prenatal vitamins. We have been okayed to try again at the beginning of November and she wants me pregnant by next July. PCOS is mostly people that are overweight, but you don't have to have wieght problems to have it. It does not mean that you will never conceive and give birth to a healthy baby. It just means that your hormones levels need help and that you may have to try longer to conceive than someone without PCOS. I really do feel your pain because we were not trying to get pregnant and did, but in another month when we do start trying I am afraid that it won't happen right away. I wish you the best. There are some wonderful websites to find information on PCOS.
Please do not blame yourself. It is not your fault you were misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.
I am a bit skeptical about your doctor's diagnosis. You might have irregular periods but that does not mean you have PCOS for sure. Did the doctor do an ultrasound or any blood tests to check the level of your hormones?
Maybe you need to get a second opinion.
Best of luck.
PCOS usually goes hand in hand w/being overweight. Sounds like you are on way too many drugs. Get healthy, especially if you are overweight. Even if you get pg, it might not be safe pregnancy. Exercise, raw fruits and veggies (organic), switch to organic milk. My sister is a nutritionist and swears hormones and antibiotics in milk are affecting female fertility.
Also, look into herbal cures. I picked red clover from a friends organic farm and let it dry out, then I made tea with it. I was ttc for 18 months and had cysts on my ovaries. I took the red clover tea (you can buy dried organic red clover online) religiously for a month and the next dr. appointment my cysts were cleared up! I also lost some weight before I conceived. I now have three healthy children. Good luck!
Here is a great website for this disorder and it has a great link for support systems, groups etc......Dont beat yourself up about it, you didnt cause this. We all have disorders of some sort we have to live with. I have a seizure disorder, which when I was first diagnosed I was completely in denial. Its not to say you can NEVER get pregnant, I hear of women all of the time with many reproductive problems far worse then this wind up getting pregnant more then once. Just try to do as much research as you can before you make ANY decision, even advice from your doctor. Also, try to get support through a group of some sort with women who are living with this as well.
Take care and God bless :-)
