It's fine but lay STRICT GROUND RULES for paying the rent. They don't get special priveleges just because they're your family. It's okay if they're a few days late or whatever, but don't let them guilt you into not paying at all.

You should go to a lawyer and have a lease agreement written to protect yourself. I rented to family twice I will never do it again. For some reason even the most wonderful family members can turn into mooches. Good Luck I say if you are selling a house to a family member,other people that wanted the house would think that you gave it to them 4 cheaper because there family.

Don't do it. It cause to much tension in the family. If something break, or rent is not paid on time. Stay away from family.
