If you chart basal body temperature, what generally happens to...?

your temperature ON the day you start your period. I had pink spotting yesterday and brown spotting this morning. Now its gone altogether and my temperature was higher yesterday and today than it was when I ovulated and the days after ovulation. It's like a second spike. (I know I already ovulated, I'm positive). Temp. was taken same time every day.

Answers:
Are you sure it was your period? When are you 'supposed' to start? How long ago did you ovulate? Because after you ovulate you have your luteal phase and normally lasts anywhere from 12-16 days! That's what determines when you will have your next period! Has it been close to 12 or so days since you ovulated? It could have been implantation bleeding! And you mentioned a second spike...well that could be the start of a tri-phasic pattern in your temperature, and that's a sign of pregnancy! Oh...and if you do actually start your period, your temperature will go way down...to the temperatures that is was before you ovulated! If you keep having high temperatures for more than 18 days that's a sign of pregnancy also! It sounds like you may be pregnant just by what you typed...I don't know for sure though! So you may want to buy an EPT or go to the doctor! Hope this helps & good luck with everything...

In my case while I was charting my BBT dipped relatively low on the day that I started my period. I'm pregnant now after charting for 5 months and this last cycle my temp never went below my crossline after ovulation.

Take another pregnancy test. It sounds like you might be triphasic. Usually your temperature goes down when af arrives. If you still get a negative, and your period doesn't start on time, go in and ask to have a blood test done. Good luck to you!!! This could be implantation bleeding since you are coming to the end of your cycle for the month. Wait another day or so and take a test-good luck!!

A triphasic BBT usually indicates pregnancy. A triphasic chart is one where you have low temps (pre-ovulation), higher temps (after ovulation), then still higher temps (a week to a week and a half later). The point where you temperature rises the second time is implantation.

If you *don't* get pregnant, your temperature will drop suddenly--either a day or 2 before or the first day of your period.
