Does anyone else have a wacky BBT?

My BBT is crazy. I just started charting it, and during my period it was weird, then for a few days after it was around 97.1 most of the time, then the day before yesterday it dipped below 97, then this morning it was above 98. It's only been like a week since my period ended (this is my second period after giving birth to my daughter a year ago, and I do still breastfeed) so I know the spike can not possible be that I'm ovulating already, and I've always been irregular, really long cycles (like, I could go from 3 months to 6 months without a period prior to being pregnant) it took about 45 days for this period to come after the last one. I've never been able to use the pill because I bleed constantly on it, so I know that my hormones must be funky, but my husband and I want another baby. I'm going to try to pay attention to the mucous, but I was hoping to be able to tell by BBT. I try to take at the same time every morning, but sometimes it's not possible with my 1 year old...

Your temps may seem wacky because you took them while on your period. Most people don't temp during their period because its not necessary. If your temps stay erratic you my try temping vaginally, sounds unpleasant but not that bad, gives a more consistent accurate temp. Also you can still ovulate while breastfeeding. You must temp at the same time or the chart will not give you an accurate picture. Try setting the alarm for 1 hour before the baby normally gets up, take your temp and go back to bed. Temping at different times can really throw your chart off. Also by the time you see the spike in the chart, you will have missed your prime chance. The spike occurs after ovulation not before. Also you cycles are likely to be different now. I was totally irregular before giving birth and pretty regular now.
