Could i possibly be pregnant or have something completely wrong with me?

May of last year was when i was suppose to go back to my doctors to get my birth control shot. I never went back because it made me sick and depressed. a few months after my last shot my periods started regularizing out. once a month last five to seven days. well January 2006 was the last time i had my period. I went to the doctors and she says the birth control shot could still be in my system for up to a year. this May would be a year off the shot. Could i be pregnant or have something wrong with me.I also get sharp pains in my lower abdomen. its been like this since February 2006. please let me know what i should do!

Answers:
Chances are, that if you had started to have regular periods, the hormones from the birth control shot are out of your system. There are a number of reasons why you could be experiencing this pain & no / irregular periods - you don't necessarily have to be pregnant.

Rather than giving you a long list of possibilities, I strongly suggest that you go see a doctor. You definately need some tests (blood test / ultrasound scan / ??? laparoscopy) to find the cause of your symptoms. Only then can it be treated.

Your health is invaluable & although you haven't got much money, you need to make sure you stay healthy.

If you are having pains, you should really see your doctor. If your periods were regular...they should continute to be regular.

Note that every woman will have an off cycle now and then...but it should not be accompanied by pain. I would get that checked out.

i had pains in the same aera and it was ovarian cysts you should really go to the dr
Smart thing to do is take a prego test, and/or see a Dr. about it.
First, you should pick up the phone and call the doc's office and make an appointment to see the doc. Secondly, go see him/her and tell him/her the problem. DUH.
I recommend you see a doctor and be tested for pregnancy. Request a blood test. I would be asking all the questions directly to the doctor if the doctor is not concerned about your health issues seek a second opinion.
I'm surprised your doctor didn't just give you a pregnancy test to put your mind at ease! Why don't you just take a test yourself, and report to her. If your not pregnant, she should still see you, because it's not healthy to not have your period.
it is worth the money to get a blood test they are better then the home test not everyone can get a positive on them, so you could be pregnant
YEAH MY AUNT WASNT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN BUT SHE DID AND THEY WERE BOTH FINE
are you eating healthily? not eating enough is the #1 reason for period irregularity and will stop it all together.
Doesnt sound like your are pregnant Ive had the shot and had the same pains for almost a year after. Go get a pap smear done so they can find out your problem. Dont waste the money for a blood test bescause you arent pregnant, they will give you one for free when you have your pap done.

sounds like ovarian cysts that is what causes pain like that... Im a nurse not a doctor so you might want to go back and get rechecked. if they dont want to check you again then you need to find another place. YOu shouldnt have to just deal with the pains to need to start trying to find out teh reasons asap.

IF you had the depo shot like i did you could be having serious problems after your last shot, it does take 12 montsh to fully wear off but still something could be wrong.
