About Metformin?


I need to know how safe metformin is. My Health care professional said that if she put me on it, we would only have t be concerned about the first six hours.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these symptoms of lactic acidosis: weakness, increasing sleepiness, slow heart rate, cold feeling, muscle pain, shortness of breath, stomach pain, feeling light-headed, and fainting. Do not use metformin if you have kidney disease or congestive heart failure, or if you are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis (call your doctor for treatment with insulinBefore taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have:
· liver disease; or
· a history of heart disease.

That is the generic for Glucophage. I've been on it. I had no problems. My doctor didn't mention any adverse effects either. What did he/she say might happen in the first 6 hours?
