How long does it take to get pregnant after coming off the pill?

I have been on the pill for 4 yrs now and ready to come off of it...how long does it take to get back on track and to become pregnant? I have been told at least 2 full complete periods and then there after could get pregnant ? Does that sound about right?

I was on the shot about 8 yrs ago and it took me about a year before I got my period. Then I tired to get pregnant but had marital issues then divorced. After I divorced I went on the pill as I begun dating again ...now with my current bf we are deciding to try to get pregnant but I want to have an idea how long it will take. I already have a 11 yr from my first marriage.

It can take a long time for you period to get back to normal and even when it does it can still be hard to become pregnant. Most doctors do say wait until you have 2 normal consecutive periods before you begin trying & use an alternate birth control until those periods have normalized. If you are considering getting pregnant make a Dr. appointment with you OB GYN and she can put you on prenatal vitamins and help you start getting pregnant. It's the healthy and smart way to get pregnant. That way you start off on the right foot.
three to six months
