Ways to know if you cannot conceive?
Answers:
4 months is NOTHING! Try years and years!
For a start the percentage of people who cannot EVER conceive as in "they have something so terribly wrong with them they will never have a baby" is very VERY small and they would probably already know about it because of other symptoms - ie they'd never had a period or had had both their testicles removed/damaged.
Some people may need a helping hand - for example, drugs to get their ovaries working, minor surgery to remove lesions caused by endometriosis, or if the man has a low sperm count they may need assisted technologies such as IUI or IVF/ICSI to conceive. But the only people who "cannot ever conceive" are people who have been born without a womb/ovaries or men who produce absolutely no sperm, have no testicles etc and that is VERY rare. If that was you you'd already know about it!!!!!
Most of the time peopel who are having trouble conceiving are not "infertile" but "sub-fertile" as in "their fertility is not as good as it should be and they need a helping hand".
If you are between 20-30 you should try for about 12-18 months before you even need to think about going to your doctor to get tests (which are the only way to detect a fertility problem). If you are 30-35 try for 12 months and over 35 try for 6 months. 4 months is nothing!! I can't beleive you're even worrying so early!
Try my story for size:
I was married for 10 years, on and off the pill and never got pregnant. I left my Husband and my new partner and I started trying for a baby.
Nothing happened. I had all the tests and so did my BF. They said he had a slightly low sperm count and I had slight endometriosis but nothing really serious or that would prevent us from ever conceiving. Still we couldn't get pregnant. We were eventually advised to go for IVF treatment, but before we even had time to put our names down on the waiting list I got pregnant naturally! For the first time in my life! It had taken me and my BF nearly 2 years. I'm 34, he's 23.
24 weeks pregnant now with a lovely little baby boy (according to the scans) who seems as healthy as they come!
And you're worried about 4 months?!?! Come on!
I'm sure there is nothing wrong with you. For one thing it can take a long long time to get the pill hormones out of your system - several months sometimes. If you had a really serious condition which would stop you conceiving you'd know by now.
Do you have regular periods? Do you have enough sex?
Get hold of "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler. You can get it off Amazon.com. This book tells you everything you need to know about your menstrual cycle, how to monitor it by temperature taking and body-sign checking so that you can pinpoint the days when you are ovulating and have sex on your most fertile days. You'll probably be pregnant in no time.
It can take several months to get pregnant -- this is the norm. Just get lots of practise with your partner but if you are worried see your GP. Probably nothing to worry about but who would you trust your doctor or the muppets (like me) on Y! Answers?
Good luck!!
4 mo is nothing to be worry about, I took about 8 to get pregnat the second time ( my neighbour 2 yrs and nothing was wrong with them)..... so I guess there's no sure way to tell without those tests.
