Trying to get pregnant..Help Needed?

My g/f has been on the pill for years and we have now decided to try to get pregnant. How long before the pill effects stop working and we can successfully get pregnant? Anyone have any ideas? I heard it could be 1 year before being fertile again.....

Answers:
keep trying thats the fun part!never give up.

Other Answers:
Depends on the woman. My sister-in-law needed three years.
It usually takes a couple of months before all the hormones get back in balance.

Talk to the doctor if you have concerns.
BC takes about three weeks to get out of your system, but that's not to say that she will get pregnant right away. I have been off BC for three years and we are still trying =/
u know it sounds like both of u wanna get pregnant.lolz.

well that's what i thought when i read this.
Get married first. A baby deserves to be born into a commited legal family.
everyone is different - my sister in law took three years after stopping the pill, I got pregnant right away. Unfortunately there is not rule here that works for everyone. Check out these sites so that you can get some information on how to track fertility and know when she ovulates and what else you can do to boost your chances. Good luck!

it really depends on what birth control and for how long....I would have her make an appointment with her gyno because every women is different...but you can try to use Fertilaid to help.
Not necessarily - Some people get pregnanct straight away and other women resume their cycle very erratically (worst case up to a year) -

Once her cycle comes back you should have as good a chance as any.

Best thing is not to over medicalise it - enjoy yourselves and stay relaxed - regular *cough* relations *cough* maybe every other day is best (gives sperm time to regenerate fully) but again don't be overly prescriptive and good luck!
The only way to really get pregnant is to stop taking the pills and just have sex whenever you can. It will happen you least expect it. Stop trying to hard, just relax and have fun. It will happen. Once she is off the pills, she will be able to reproduce again, as long as she is healthy and fertile in that department.
Perhaps search the Internet for sites that discuss getting pregnant after using the pill. The other question I have is whether you need to wait a cycle for the safety of the fetus.
Most pill directions state to wait 1 month before trying to get pregnant. However, this doesn't mean the woman will get pregnant.

For various reasons, some women just don't get pregnant right away. It's not necessarily the effects of the pill. I have known women who were never on the pill, were perfectly healthy, checked with their doctors, etc., and still didn't get pregnant for a long time.

Just keep trying. If it's not too much bother. ; )
have sex alot, it will be fun and you just might get pregnant, and consider yourself lucky some people always get pregnant
It could be a year, but then again, some women get pregnant just by missing one or two pills, so there's just no right answer. My mom got pregnant with me during her first cycle off the Pill in 1969, when dosages were much higher than they are today.
