How do I receive my two year behind the times to lug soft pryscribed meds?
Answers: I put Noah's medication in a syringe and afterwards squirt small amounts into the side of his mouth. When he fusses, I ask him to help me push the plunger. This can be time consuming, just amount it's going to take you some time to get this medication surrounded by! Relax, you're not in a hurry, right? haha.
You hold them facing away from you, with one arm across theirs to hold them down, and pinch their cheeks beside that same hand. With the other you squirt the medicine within between the gums and cheeks in the back of the mouth, not the rear legs of the throat.
Keep the cheeks pinched until he begins to swallow. You can massage beneath his chin to get him to swallow.
I had like problem with my son. You can have the meds flavored at the drug store for a small levy. We would have them put chocalote flavor in the meds and mix it beside chocolate milk. Seemed to help. It was approaching a wrestling match with my son and more meds get on me and the floor than in him. He is now 5 and the meds are alot better. Try to explain to your child that if he does not pocket them he will have to go into the hospital and be stuck next to needles. Sometime fear can help. Good Luck! This may procure tons of thumbs down but this is what I did. I would tell him in a firm voice that it be time for his medicine. With him in the high/booster form buckled in. I would hold his face and squirt the meds surrounded by his mouth and tell him to swallow. If he spits it out yell consequently smack him once not too hard, not to softly across the face. And put him within time out. Trust me give 1-3 tries and you will never have problems again.
Pharmacys will flavor your drug. If you get it flavored, mix it with liquid of whatever flavor you have.
You could also a short time ago get the plain medicine and mix it contained by with OJ. You can never taste it, and he will muse is just that.
Bless you. I've been within before, and it isn't fun.
Good luck!
I don't like the fooling him part of a set (unless it's critical-Im not a truth fanatic). But, making a trade with him can be another way. If there's something that he truly loves but can solely have once or twice a day (or week-depending) consequently 2 is old enough to right to be heard "Well, you can have (the park, chocolate, whatever...) is you can swallow this." Have you tried Nestle strawberry syrup contained by his milk? Try starting him on "pink milk" when he's not sick, then when he needs medication; freshly put twice the syrup (or powder) in his milk along with the medication. This worked for the three year old that I nanny for.
Don't let him see you mixing it and put it within his juice.
Also, most pharmacy's have a program that will incorporate flavoring to most medicines (grape, cherry, lemon, etc.). So if you get grape flavored, make the addition of it to grape juice.
Good Luck!
Check to make sure it can be mixed near a drink first! Some medicines can't!
My kids' pediatrician's practice actually recommend mixing thick liquids near strawberry or chocolate milk and other meds with a little bit of Dr. Pepper b/c it's worthy at hiding the medicine flavor!
i have equal problem with my 2 year old but i hold found that i have to hold him down squirt it in the backbone of his throat also and then i quickly blow surrounded by his face, for some reason he swallows it and be all done! It's may sound devastating but really works even you are alone.
Lay him down between your legs and handle him. You can squize his nose while giving pills to swallow it entirely.
