Should The Wiggles' game show episode be revised or discontinued?

While babysitting this morning, I saw the episode of The Wiggles where they had a pretend game show format. Children were given instructions to pretend to be game show buzzers by:

1. Giving the 'thumbs up' sign.
2. Patting the top of the head once with both hands.
3. Placing their hands on their hips, "wiggle"

After doing these steps, the answer could be told.

Well, when the men demonstrated the "wiggle," it was too effeminate for any boy imitate. The wiggle should have been a move that is not associated with gender.

Answers:
My four year old loves the show, and I did see that episode in which my 4 year old did pick up the "wiggle" since then he does it all the time. My friends who aren't parents and don't know the show thought he was imitating our friend Steve (a gay man). Since then it's been an ongoing joke amongst them...asking me how my young flamer is and such. After such comments I did find it a little wrong for them to do such a thing on the show, cause like you put it, it's more of a little girl thing. Now I'm stuck with the delimma of getting him to stop doing it. He still watches the show because I see nothing wrong with it, but I think they need to consider the minds of their young viewers a little more.

Other Answers:
Oh get over it!!! It is a tv program for crying out loud. The wiggles are a very good program and I don't think they meant any harm in what they were doing. You are probably one of the people that were against the Teletubbies too aren't ya?

A mom that pays attention to what her child watches. This show is fine.

So, you're the official judge on what's manly & what's not? I was wondering who was in charge, thanks for letting me know. I'll make sure to ask you when I have questions. Keep on watching the WIGGLES. Kids love it

The Wiggles is my son's favorite show!! Okay, I wasn't so "hip", at first. . . but he LOVES it. It is a children's show. . . . So, they're a little goofy. . . "Don't you have to be to get and keep young kids' attention?"

they are the wiggles, that is what they do "wiggle'..get over it..he is a kid..my son loves it and wiggles (though not very well-he did get his dad's rhythm)...look at it this way..he will outgrow the wiggles, and won't even remember how he "wiggled" and the only way he will remember is when you show him the video tape if him doing it (and he is embarassed)....it just like people who think that a boy liking dora is a bad thing...its' not, it just fun..this is such an innocent age..don't make someting out to be more than it is ..
