Zero. Parents should raise their own children.

Well, if you must work, and are not able to stay home, then maybe 4 or 5 hours max. Why cant you stay home?

each state has its own set of laws governing this. You need to check into the laws of your state.
I am a single mom of two and work full time. :You have to do what you have to do.
People complain if you use daycare and then they do if you stay home and go on welfare ...so what do you do....I work and support my boys.

There are no laws goverening the hours that a child spends at daycare. It is a choice of yours to make as the responsible parent as to what you need to do to care for your child. If you work 8 hours then 8 is fine. if 12 then 12 is fine. If you work 4 , 8 is not fine. Dont let others feel you full of shet and tell you thats it is wrong for this many hours or this many. Let them walk the miles in your shoes and see what they have to say. The fact that you are asking indicates that you are a concerning parent and I say it is all up to you.

Real World Living Because I'm a student and I need time to study I'm paying for my child to stay at daycare for up to ten hours a day. But I don't leave her there that whole time. If your paying for that time use it.

It depends on how long YOU feel it right. My 2 year old twins spends 8-5pm @ day care and they r just fine so you decide what is good and do it.

My daughter who just turned three on Saturday attends day care from 8:15 am to 3pm. I think that it allows her enough time to interact with other children and have an afternoon nap. Most people say 6-7 hours a day. Also, Preschool can begin when children are 3 so that is another option, although it is only from 9-1.
