19 month old cough....second opinion please?

I have taken my 19 month old daughter to the doctor two times in the last 3 weeks for nasal drainage and cough. The first time the Dr. said there was no infection and gave perscription decongestant. It has now been 2 weeks and my daughter coughs so hard in the morning she gags and spits up, her nose is constantly running clear and then switching to greenish. Took her to the Dr. today and they perscribed Zythromax, however when asked what the diagnosis was the Dr. said "I see no infection but we will see if the antibiotic will help nasal drainage." I walked out with no straigh foward diagnosis and if there is no infection then why the antibiotics?? What would other parents out there do? Should i fill the perscription and just wait and see. I told the Dr. that I have been giving Robitussion twice a day for 3 weeks and she said that is ok to continue. I feel like all that Robitussin is not healthy. Advice Please!

Answers:
Stop giving her robitussin hun. If its not helping than its just not helping. The clear drainage mixed with the green drainage is the first sign of infection. Go to walmart or some other store and pick up a nose sucker and some little noses saline drops. Triamenic works awesom for this sort of stuff too. Give her 5ml or 1 tsp. of triamenic cold and alergy or cold and cough and put some little noses saline drops in her nose and then suck it out with the nose sucker and then add a little more saline. Ill dry her up and also help with the soon to come infection. I have to do that with my 20 mth old preemee. Hes always getting sick. Also sit with her in the bathroom for about 10 mins longer if possible with the shower on hot. The steam will help all of that gunk come out of her and shell get better faster. But after the shower just make sure to suck out her nose.
ask to have her tested for mono or the flu
