Why is it that the first thing girls do when they learn to walk is copy mum?

1) wear their mum's shoes
2} put on mum's make-up
3) Learn to point their fingers at dad, fold their arms and declare"What time do you call this!!...

Does anyone agree (apart from mothers...obviously!)

Answers:
That generalization is not true. Some do, some don't like to copy mom, but not necessarily having the finger pointing business included, unless their mom actually does that at home when they are watching. I never did any of this dress up stuff when I was a kid because I was much too busy climbing trees and piloting space ships to bother with it.

All kids, both boys and girls, like to copy adults and older folks because this is one of the ways they learn. A learning by doing. Many young girls want to play dress up and the way to do it is get adult clothes and shoes. Some boys do this with their fathers clothes also.

It is just a part of growing up. There also is a copying of behavior. If they have seen mom yelling at daddy, they copy it in play. If they see mom being sweet to dad and talking to him nicely, they copy that too. The end result of children copying adults depends entirely on what examples the adults give them.

it ain't always so...........
Because they look up to and want to be just like you. They love you. Consider yourself lucky!
Haha! Sounds like you got in some trouble recently.

I never imitated my mom when I was growing up until I hit about 13 or 14. I would wear her shoes sometimes, but I'd never put on her makeup. Sounds like you have a girly-girl to deal with.
our baby copies both of us equally, so i guess it depend on how much time the dad spends with his child and if he is a role model
Haven't been around any kids that age but it seems to me that the mum is the first person they see so who else would the little girls copy.
Maybe it's because they are learning from their female role-model, the way boys learn from Dad....
Mothers are easier to impersonate than daddy's are.
For the same reason little boys imitate their dads.

Chldren learn by imitating the adults in their lives.
normally mum's the one that stays home with the child and she can't even go to the restroom without the child following
Well, they gotta learn how to be a woman from someone, so who better to teach them?
By the time the baby learns to walk she undoubtedly observes her mother some hundreds and thousands of times the mother's style of walking but not the visitors who come and go occasionally.

It is a simple question.
Because kids only learn things from watching others. And who is around more than the Parents??
