How can I get my 15 month old son to sleep in his crib instead of our bed?

Unfortunately we have been inconsistent with his sleep habits as we were trying to find a good routine. We liked co-sleeping when he was younger, but now he is just too big. According to his daycare, he naps on a mat during the day, but at night, we can't get him in the crib to fall asleep without a bottle and if he falls asleep anywhere else, he wakes up in his crib almost immediately and screams. HELP!!

Answers:
Develop a bedtime routine with your son that takes place in his room.

I have a bedtime routine with my two year old. We start by cleaning up his toys and running his bath water. He has a nice warm bath and then we go to his bedroom where he gets dressed for bed. When he is dressed for bed he tells his brother and father goodnight then we go back to his room to rock in a rocking chair while I read him a bedtime story and he sips a cup of warm milk. When he falls asleep I place him in his crib. If he should happen to wake up during the night I try not to make eye contact with him while comforting him back to sleep. Some times I have to sit in the rocking chair for few minutes while he falls back asleep, but I never take him out of his crib.

The point is to develop a bedtime routine that takes place in his bedroom. He needs to associate his bedroom and his crib with bedtime.

I heard if you put the crib by your bed than slowly move it back to his room. I heard it works

Show him what you do in your bed when he isn't around. put him to bed in his crib and stay in his room that night. Let him know he is ok but make sure he stays in his crib then slowly go back to your room but make sure he has a night light and knows your there

Let him scream....let him scream till dawn if you have too, but don't take him out of the crib. You can re-assure him that he's fine and tell him the crib is where he sleeps.

Wait it out..it will only happen a few nights and then he'll understand you mean business and he'll start sleeping soundly in his crib.

Just prepare yourself for a few long hard-fought nights.

Who has doors wide enough to fit a crib through? Not me.

I got some great answers on my 2 yr old sleeping dilemma. I posted my question about 45 minutes ago: We have a 24 month old who won't fall asleep on his own. Any suggestions?

he may be ready for a toddler bed take him to the store with you and let him pick everything out from the bed to the bedding and get him all excited about it. I had to this with my child at 18mnths he was in my bed every night and it worked like a charm good luck
