my baby is 1 1/2 years old an gives me lots of trouble to eat her food what can i do to make her eat more?
Answers:
young children have a tendency to not eat much . they usually pick at their food . however they will eat enough to satisfy themselves. they have smaller bellies and need much smaller portions . usually what we consider a portion is actually much much larger than what nutritionist recommend . so when a toddler seems to not eat much it seems to us as though they are going to starve.
offer a couple of tablespoons of a variety of things each meal .
banannas offer alot of potassium , make sure she is drinking whole milk because it has the fat she needs in it to grow , kids seem to love yogurt because it is sweet , if veggies are a problem try to add cheese to them or ranch dressing to dip,
i have problems with getting my daughter to eat meats. so i offer different dips for her to dip her meat in . for some reason she loves dips, ketchup , steak sauce , dressings, BBQ , just dont over do the dips bvecause they don thave much vitamines or nutrients in them .
stay away from giving junk food because they dont really need it and there is not enough nutrients in it . also i have read that giving vitamines before 3 years of age can cause ashtma and other allergies . pedia sure can suppliment what she is missing , just give it instead of milk , however it is about $12.00 for a 6 pack . ovaltine can add more to her milk as can instant breakfast mix.
my daughter loves raisins . they are not the safest for a toddler , but if you watch her very closely with them they are good for kids.
i have heard also that kids eat more in the morning and as the day goes on they tapper off with the ammount they eat. so i would try to offer her more options at breakfast when she is at her hungriest.
talk to her doctor , chances are you are just overly concerned and they are not . most mommies worry because you see these butter balls out there the same age as your child and start to wonder if you are giving your child enough . that is common also keep in mind alot of parent over feed their kids , or feed them nothing but junk food and soda. also if your daughter is very active she may just burn it all off. dont try to force her to eat something or more than she can , if she feeds herself try to help out when she seems to start loosing interest and try to feed her a bit to see if she can take in some more .
relax and dont feel that you are doing something wrong. the fact you are asking advice, to me means you really care about your daughter. good luck
Don't give her junk food. Only give her healthy things like fresh fruits and vegis and meats. Real cheeses like colby, swiss, mozerella, cheddar are also good for her. Graham crackers and goldfish and cherios are also good snacks.
Give her a small plate of lots of small portions and let her choose what to eat. If she refuses to eat then let her down. She'll come back to it when she's hungry. The child will not let herself starve. Don't worry.
Vitamins won't help her put on weight....they'll just fill in any missing nutrients in her diet.
Don't get into a power struggle with her on this. This is something that only SHE can control. Your job here is to provide her with a variety of healthy options and her job is to decide what to eat. She won't starve herself. Sometimes kids need to be offered something dozens of times before they will try it.
EDITED TO ADD:
Wow...are these people serious? DO NOT spank your child over what they eat! What a great way to help your child develop an eating disorder!
sgirl ever time she don't eat the food after you have tried so many time you spank her either on her hand while she's eating on her a s s.!!! if you don't she'll think she can run over you..and get her way.
