Why is it humiliating for a boy to have to wear a dress ?
She thinks that if guys are humiliated to wear women's clothing that is their problem. She says if we punished a little girl for ruining her dresses by making her wear her brothers clothes no one would be fraking out.

She asked me how I knew it was humilating if i had never done it. She then went to her drawers and pulled out some really lacey panties and a bra and said lets go for it.

First, I can't believe that you would punish your child that way! That is AWFUL! You are creating a kid that is uncomfortable with his masculinity. Don't do that anymore or you're going to have a total meat-head, overly testosterone teenager on your hands.
Second, guys think that wearing women's clothes makes them look weak. I think that is why they are embarrassed. But, if guys had to wear women's clothes for a week, they would see how tough women actually are to wear such uncomfortable things.

What the hell is wrong with your wife ? The big question here is why she would do something that humiliating to her own flesh and blood. She needs serious help and if you allow her to use humiliation as a form of punishment and not do anything about it you are just as guilty.
There are traumatic events that happen in peoples childhoods that they look back on and remember forever. Sometimes these events shape the person they later become. One of the things I remember from a documentary I saw one time about serial killers is Henry Lee Lucas talking about how his mother would make him wear his sisters clothes as a form of punishment. He developed a hatred for women because of her abusive behavior. If I remember right he ended up killing her as well as numerous other women.
If you have to explain to her why that is not acceptable punishment then you really need to get her some physiological help.

It is humiliating for a man to pursue female pursuits in any form because, in our society, for a man to be like a woman is degrading, while for a woman to like a man is acceptable. It's an expression of the basic patriarchal worldview, which is tied in to biology.Think of the phrase, 'you throw like a girl'. This is also tied in with the way the majority of men in the world refuse to take an equal role in housework duties - because they are 'women's work' and therefore it's emasculating for a man to keep the house clean.
These aren't my views, they're the dominant, if often unconscious, views of our society. A man who identifies with females is less of a man; a woman who identifies with males is more than a woman. That's why it might be considered humiliating for a boy to be made to wear women's clothes, the clothing that historically made it easier for men to gain sexual access to women.
I don't recommend putting a dress on a boy as a disciplinary measure. I mean, way to promote gender confusion. that was cruel and unusual. I pray he didnt do it again.
