What is the average age that babies can build a 7-8 block tower? (wood blocks)?

I'm just trying to see if my son is ahead of the curve or on the curve. He is 17 mos old and can build a 7 block tower if it's on linoleum or a table. It's very straight and neat, even. He was doing a shape puzzle (circle, square, triangle, etc) at 15 mos old. He also just started being infatuated with buckles and will buckle anything with a buckle if it's unbuckled.

Answers:
he is just perfect, maybe a little ahead. there's some worksheets you can do for your son at the pediatritian to see where he is as far as development, like motor skills and such. the buckle thing was very popular with my daughters too...

Go to the babycenter. There is a milestone chart for each age group. It is very interesting.

If he's an engineer, it should be taller than that. If he's blonde, it may only be a couple blocks tall. I babysit an 18 month old who was diagnosed on Mon. with Sensory Processing Disorder. That was one of the questions they asked if he could do, so apparently your child is right where he should be.
