Facial Marks—Nigeria's Fading Identity Card

Answers:
If the marks were associated with false worship, there is no way that a Christian would permit that.

Even if there were no false religious connection, it seems to disrespect the gift of life and body from God to purposely scar oneself, although that is a personal view.

I saw a documentary on something like this a while back. It was a teenage girl from an African country who had coloring burnt into her skin on her face. she looked very happy when it was finished (pleased with the look) but maybe just happy that the torture was over?

I don't think I'd do this to my child. Kids get teased enough the way it is. For the 6 year old who pressured his dad to do his face, I think that shows weakness on the part of the parent. A six year old shouldn't have that authority over a parent! To each their own I guess but I think I'd rather have that choice as an adult than to have it inflicted upon me as an infant.

I'd never do that to a 6-year old no matter how they begged.
