my son will only sometimes chew his food. he has more than once gotten choked. how can i get him to chew?
Answers:
my baby girl does the same thing...if you give him food he has no choice but to chew, then he'll learn...when i give her stuff like pasta or break down her food for her, it's a licence for her to just swallow...but if you give your boy big pieces of something that can't hurt him...like bread or something that won't be sharp, then he's forced to chew if he wants to eat and it'll get him into the habit of picking and choosing what to chew and what not to...
Other Answers:
He may be too young to understand the concept of chewing. Try giving him softer foods for a while, ones that he doesn't have to chew.
cut his food up for him in small pieces or let him know your going to watch him closely to make sure he is chewing and mention it when you notice he isnt For right now chop, slice ans make real small pieces of food he eats. With time he'll learn how to chew, he simply may not be developmentally ready for that yet.
depending on how old he is you may be giving him too much or to hard foods try hard foods
