My 12 month old son has eczema too. He got the first spot on his face near his mouth around 5 months. It doesn't ever go away. I use cortaid 1% on it when it looks very red and itchy to control it. I stop using it when the redness gets tinier and use it again when it gets bigger. Then when winter came, my son got spots on his leg and on his body. I use cetaphil lotion on him twice a day and the spots on his body disappeared. The one of the face is kinda stubborn, and it gets worse when my son drools. Anyway, moisturizing is the best answer to eczema. Eczema has no cure, although babies outgrow it sometimes. I also only bathe my son every 2 days (more often only if he needs it), and I use aquaphor as soap (it's by eucerine). Once in a while I use aveeno oatmeal bath. The the best thing is the cetaphil lotion. When I forget to apply it on him, the rough spots appear on his body...so I know it works. Hopefully it works for you too. Good luck.

Do you try basic over the counter hydrocortisone cream nightly, right before bedtime.
I use this on daughter's Eczema and it works very well. I would avoid lotions...even oatmeal for a few days and see what happens with just over the counter cream. Go to a dermatologist to be sure. Deep or prolonged rashes can scar.
Hot water and frequest baths dry skin, too. Don't let child soak or play too long. I hope everything is ok.

My daughter is 14 months old and she has a break out about once every 2 weeks, the doctor gave us NuZon and it's wonderful! The breakout is cleared up within 2 hours! Ask your doctor about it, but there is a warning, the medicine is good, but they say not to over use it because it can thin the skin. Good Luck.

My pediatrician My little one had it about 2 weeks after he was born. His poor little face felt like sand paper. I went to my doctor and she prescribed this medicine: mometasone furoate cream usp. This stuff is awesome. I just put a really thin coat on his rash and it disappeared in days. And now I only have to apply if I see him start to break out. Some good advice on the side is to not use too hot of water because it makes the eczema worse. Lots of bathing dries out babies skin and the best time to put lotion on is immediately after a bath because the skin is more absorbant.

my daughter had the same problem...when she turned three, she had a constant rash on the insides of her elbows and back of her knees....i started giving her cod liver oil capsules every morning for the last three months....her skin has completely cleared up....it was amazing....give that a try....sold at health food stores....they have kid's fish oil that tastes good too....good luck
