"At what age can a baby be tought to suck from a straw?"?

Answers:
keep trying they will do it when they are ready. Best to wait until after 6 months though because of the sterilisation thing.

Other Answers:
mine started at 7 months
Babies learn through practice. I'd wait until they are at least 8 months to start practicing, because that's when they have better control of their mouth muscles and better motor skills (so they can hold their cups steady).

my baby was a bit under a year old and he did it all by his self, no teaching involved.
my daughter is 16 mths as still wont suck on a straw if it is in a cup...if you take it out and hold some liquid in it then she will suck on it.
Mine did at about 9 months.
if ur going to start giving ur baby a cup with a straw u should wait till they are more familiar with cups, around 9 months or so, also teach them not to tip their cups since they are used to tipping their bottles and sippy cups.
my son started at 1 year as soon as i throw away all his bottles.
I would start at the age of there late twos but I would watch them to make sure the baby was ok
My son figured it out really quickly at about 6-7 months old.
My 1st child stucked from a straw at 5 months. My 2nd is almost a year and still won't. So it's different for every child.
I just gave her a straw and she did it.
Much to my surprise.
No training required, but generally it should be done after the child is past the powdered-milk-and-sterilizatio... thing.

Summer is a good time to introduce it, giving little sips of water in hot weather (when they will want it).
My daughter is greedy and knew how to suck from a straw at 7 months although she didnt get her sippy cup til 1. Cut the bottle out completely at 1. Just throw them all out and give the baby a sippy cup.....Cut throat thats the only way to do it.
