does any one have advice on how to potty train a 18 month old boy?
Answers:
18 months is much too early to try and potty train a boy. You will distress him because he will develop a sense of failure. Wait until he is at least 30 months. It will be much easier - we left our son until then and he was trained (though not night-dry) within a week.

well wen i was trining mine i put training pants on them and i would bring there little potty to wherever they were playing since the little ones cant run and make it to the bathroom in time so u can make it easier that way and put them on the potty every 10 minutes it does help it worked for me
no pampers
when he does so, take him to the toilet and let him practice the shooting. award him for "doing it in the right place" and let him throw his diapers in the trash. (take them out later when he's asleep if they're clean, lol)
maybe his dad can show him examples,
My sister used to put a little food dye in the toilet water, and told my nephew to pee and see what happens, it was kinda a good idea
Yes, patience and being steadfast. Continue to ask him if he needs the potty. You could reward him by going to the potty, or like we did......when he went to the potty, we'd clap our hands and say "YAAHHHH!!". He'll have mistakes, but be patient with him and it'll come eventually. Best of luck to you
Try buying a potty train book !!!
It always works but I personal think you boy is to small for potty train boys are a lot differed and difficult because they have to learn to ways sitting and standing up don't pushed he will learn when is the right time for him.
you dont potty train an 18 month baby! wait til he is almost three. give the kid a break he aint even 2!
It's a be persisting thing. but someone told me use food coloring ...put a drop or two in his training potty..and every time he uses the potty, it will turn the color drop you put in the potty...when it turns color assure him wow!!!...this is great..make him see the color of his pee..make it exiting for him that way he can be anxious and want to use the potty often and want to see what color is next..try it and see what happens..good luck.
take him to the toilet every 45 minutes and sit him on it for 2 or 3 minutes until he gets use to it He will eventually go on his own. If you are in a hurry try putting a few Cheerios in the toilet and have him try to hit them.

That is what I did with my 4 boys
He is bringing the diapers to you becuase thats what he knows he wears. My son was not until he was two when he actually wanted to sit on the potty and that lasted for about 3 months then he saw his daddy standing up and going potty and now he does it all the time. And he sits down on his potty and goes when he has too. He is out of the toddler bed and now sleeps n a twin bed. Mine did the same thing as yours is doing but I knew he was not ready. I was wanting him to learn how to go potty at a young age to but he was not ready. I would also do if your wanting to potty train him slowly sit him on there for about 2min and then take him off but if he does not go just still praise him for trying. And when he does go give him a treat as a reward thats what we did with ours.

Have a two and a half yr old.
The best advice that i was given was to not make them wear anything at all. Sounds weird, but to save money, i chose not to by training pants. For three weeks my son walked around the house without any thing on his bottom. Of course, he had some accidents here and there, but overall it went well. Take him to the potty as soon as he wakes up in the morning and every hour so he gets in the habit of doing it (even if its just a few drops). Soon he will be going on his own.

personal experience
put cheerios or something like that in the toilet and tell him to try to hit them
the best time to train is right after they turn two. they will go through a phase of wanting to pleases you no matter what and that's the best time.
With all 3 of our boys, we let them go naked around the house. (I know it sounds funny) WE moved the little potty in the hallway the first day and moved it further back until it was in the bathroom and the boys could make it to the bathroom. Then we introduced character undies. The boys were so proud of their big boy underwear, they worked really hard to stay clean.
My husband and I took turn running to the store so that the boys weren't interupted while learning to use the potty. All three of the boys were trained within a week.
