How can a grand parent get custody of a child in flordia?

Answers:
Ok, all of these people sound a bit off.

First of all, why do you want custody? If the child's parents won't give you custody, then you will have to prove 1)Why they can't care for the child and 2) how you can.

You will need to get in touch with the proper groups in Florida (assuming you are in another state). If there is abuse or neglect, call child services and give them the info they need so they can begin an investigation. Once DSS investigates, if the child is not being cared for, he/she will be taken from his/her parents. You will need to work with the DSS office to see that you will be able to take the child in, otherwise it will go into foster care.

You will need to have a lawyer, and the lawyer will help you through the rest of the process. I could go on for days...

It's much easier if you can have the cooperation of the child's parents. Then you just go to family court (still best to have a lawyer) and have either guardianship or custody appointed. If you don't, it will be a long ugly battle tied up in government red tape and will be painful for both you and the child. So make sure what you are doing is necessary and that it will work.

Other Answers:
you have to go thro family court, get a lawyer, and you also have to prove that whom ever the child is living with is incapabile of taking care of the child
well, i don't know your situation.
but the easiest way on the child, which should be everyone's main concern by the way, would be for you to take the parents (both of them, wether they're together or not) to family court, and ask for guardianship. now, the way for you to really make sure that you get guardianship is if you already have the child living with you.
guardianship gives you all the rights as a "parent", you can enroll her in school, get medical information, etc. the child will still be in the custody of her mom and dad, but if she's legally living with you, then you have a big say in how she's raised and any of the other things that may be going on. the reason i know all this, is because when i was 21, my first daughter's father had vowed to take her from me, and he succeeded by calling cps and saying that i wasn't taking care of her, and that he had no means to do so either. then he called my mom and told her to pick up the baby before cps gets there. then, knowing i would have been beat, i gave my mom and dad guardianship.
now, none if it was true, if it was, then my second child would have been taken, but now it's hard for me to get eva even on the weekends...
