You can actually get your children into preschool when they are only one year. I work in a preschool and teach 3 yr olds. I personally think if you are just putting them in for the learning and the socializing that they will receive then 3 is a good age. They can comprehend the fact that you will come back for them better. They are also usually potty trained which also makes it easier on them.

I know people that put their children into pre-school at the age of 3 and their children accelerate at a very good rate. I know it depends on the teachers and how well they interact with kids, but kids want to learn so i am sure your child would do fine. I think 3 is the earliest you can get kids into pre-school.
