What are the best games or toys for a 2-year-old boy?

I'm 16.Next week my sister's husband relatives will come to visit(they have 2-year-old son) and I won't tell you all the story but I'll have to look after the kid for a few hours while they are out(at dinner or in the city-centre).I want to ask you what are the best games which I could play with a 2-year-old boy.I know everything about the safety he needs in the room but I don't know what games or toys to offer him.And what can I do to make him get used to me?He doesn't know me(neither do I know him) and his parents have seen me only once.So what can I do?

Answers:
If possible, take him OUTSIDE. That's where little boys love to be best. Outdoors you can play ball, draw with chalk on the sidewalk, catch bubbles (he'll love that). Inside, you can have him help you "cook" chex mix that you two then eat together. Get a couple sheets of white posterboard and let him color on them with crayons or washable markers - or, if you're brave, washable non-staining paint. He'll love that its a much bigger canvas than the typical 8 1/2 x 11 sheet he's used to. (You might tape the edges down for him so the paper doesn't slide around.) Ask mom & dad to bring his favorite CD so you can dance. Typically two yr olds have an attention span of about 5 minutes - so he'll be on the move! Having many activities ready to pull out will come in handy. He might only stay at one 5 minutes, but he'll come back to it again and again. Good luck!
