what is causing my 2 yr old to rock really hard against the sides of the crib?

Answers:
Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom!!!
He may just be a bit bored and wanting one of two things. 1. Some more activity to stimulate his need to be in motion.

2. It is a way of having a temper tampurm because he wants you to pay more attention to him.

Don't worry about it, if it is number one, give him something that will challenge his little mind, a toy that sings, calls out colors, numbers, names of things.

If it is number two, and he is only trying to get his way, you may have to suffer through this stage, as long as he is dry, not hurt, and he can not hurt himself then let him be, put on some music, he might like that.

If you are really worried, tell your doctor and let him assure you as to what might be causing this behavior.

he wants out?
HE wants to dance and shake his groove thang!
It could be several different things, but a few of them might be that he or she may be ready to use a bigger bed, they may be doing it to get some attention from Mom, or they could be doing it to releive frustrations or other emotions caused by fighting or other things.

Not to scare you, but it is a symptom of Autism. I would talk to your child's doctor.
My son is 2 and does the same thing.. DON'T WORRY. My Dr.Said that means he's ready to move to a toddler bed. He's just doing it for the noise and the feeling. He's probably bored...

Umm, being a mom of a child with an autistic disorder, I would talk to your pediatrician about having your child screened for autism, just to rule it out. It does sound a lot like autistic behavior. Being autistic is not necessarily a bad thing, so please don't get discouraged with the possibility, okay? My son has his problems, but he is brilliant! Ask your pediatrician to refer you to a neurologist or a developmental pediatrician. You can also see if you can find a psychologist that specialized in autistic disorders.

If you would like to contact me for any reason, PLEASE write me at nancyclarissa1970@yahoo.com. I wish you all the luck in the world! Nancy
My 18 month old son does the same thing. He likes to hear the noise that comes out of his mouth while doing this. He got his required 18 month check up and everything is fine with his personal development. It's just another way of entertaining himself in his crib when he gets bored.
