A good walking shoe?
Answers:
Some parents think it matters, others say why bother when the child will grow out of the shoe so quickly. I do believe that this is one area where you shouldn't chinz out. Usually when they start walking, a flexible shoe like Robeez is good. They are soft leather, and move with the child's foot (toes n all) so that they are actually working their muscles in every part of their feet - which is a good thing for them to develop as they begin to walk. Once they have mastered it, Stride-Rites are an excellent shoe (not too expensive and available at Payless Shoes). If you want to go all out, www.shoes.com have a great selection of children's shoes - some are pricey but I have found it worth the extra for a durable and usually funky designed shoe. One very important thing to know tho, is never to put your child in used shoes for the first few years - every person's foot is different and it can cause damage to growing feet. My daughter is 3 and has more shoes than I do!

Robeez is a good answer..I didn't put shoes on my kids until I had too, turned 1 in late winter, didnt really buy them shoes un til they had to walk outside, end of summer..You don't want to hinder there learning abilities by making walking harder by big bulky uncomfortable shoes..good for them to learn to use all the foot muscles first.
I feel Stride Rite is the best, but I fit is important. SO go to a place that will check the size and fit. I really like Stride Rite! I did the research for this when I was pregnant with my now 18 month son. Here's what I found out: Children don't need shoes until they are pulling themselves to stand up. This shows that they are getting ready to take their first steps. You don't want to put shoes on them before then because it can interfere with the development of their feet and their balance. Our pediatrician recommended that we use soft soled shoes for starting off. If you get hard ones, again, they keep the foot from growing the way it's supposed to and makes your child focus on balancing in the shoes instead on balancing his own footing. The best shoes are Robeez and other similar brands. After 18 months, your child is walking almost exclusively and thus, you need shoes that are able to withstand new terrain. Again, make sure they are soft shoes but with a slightly sturdier sole to protect from rougher surfaces. I was introduced to the brand, See Kai Run. They are amazing!!! You can bend them completely with two fingers and are light, yet sturdy. My son didn't even notice the difference. Shoes like the ones stated (Robeez and See Kai Run) come in different sizes and styles. The prices are higher but, isn't it worth the proper and natural development of your lovely child's feet? They'll be using them to get everywhere for their entire lives. I would never even consider cheapening out to the hard, heavy, and uncomfortable ones. I'm glad you are interested in this one of many of your daughter's important milestines in life!!! Best wishes and good luck!!!
