My toddler eats mainly hot dogs and chicken nuggets--how can I get her to eat fruits and vegetables?

Things she eats:
Macaroni and cheese
hot dogs
chicken nuggets
string cheese
ravioli

Answers:
My two year olds love things like potato salad, pea salad, macaroni salad. All made with boiled eggs and lite miracle whip. I don't use alot of seasoning or spices because they are still figuring out what they like and don't like. They all go great with hot dogs and chicken nuggets. That way everyone is happy.

Also, my kids love pizza burgers. You basically make mini pizzas on hamburger buns with what they like on it (ham, pineapple, lotsa cheese and almost no sauce (he's got a slight allergy to tomatoes) for my son. And hamburger with lotsa cheese for my daughter.

We grew up on a couple of dishes my kids also love. 1) Beef rice-a-roni with either browned hamburger mixed in or diced steak mixed in and 2) chicken rice-a-roni with diced chicken mixed in. Throw some veggies with any of them (on the side or mixed in) and you have a full meal.

Fell free to contact me for more ideas if you like.

Just feed her what you want to, if she crys, then say to bad, I offered you food.

you know those squezzer things? put vegtables in a piece of meat and she will eat the meat and the vegtable Those things are almost exactly what my son used to eat when he was young. I spoke to the doctor about it and he said he will, in time, try new things, not to be concerned of his "poor diet" and he was right. My son is now 14, and almost 6 feet tall. He's still not a vegetable eater, but he does eat a lot of things that were repulsive to him as a young child. Good luck to you and your little one.

Feed the correct foods to them. If you give in too easily, they will not change habits. You started the bad habit, so now break it, and start a good habit of eating properly. They will thank you when they are adults.

feed your baby healthy meals, so when they get older they have a healthy idea of what they should be eating. this society has formed us into french fry madness!!

Your the mom, who gave her these choices? Now you have to work to reverse the damage before she obese. Try salads w/ dressing and branch off from there. Good Luck Why did you ever even START feeding her food like that?

Saute veggies and maybe add some light healthy blue cheeses to make it more appealing. Spruce it up.

With fruits just put some honey on them, nuts, etc.

Try to be relaxed about it. The more stressed you are the more your child will sense it and eating will turn into a battle. First thing to do is realise that it is going to take a while to change things.
Start by introducing a new food every week, if she eats it then fine if not just take it away and try again another day with it. Try to make eating fun and reward her for trying new things (or even kissing new foods if she does not even want to try to eat it) , sticker charts are good for toddlers.

When you figure it out, let me know! My 3 y.o. eats only fruit, cereal, bread, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, pizza and pizza rolls. We've tried letting him go hungry but basically would go days with eating only breakfast. So that didn't really work for us. The only thing we have had any kind of positive result with is just giving him a little bit of something new, not make a big deal about it and leave him alone. That's how we got him to eat bread and fish sticks. Good luck! no child has ever starved him or her self, they have though spent many hours using food as a power tool over parents. don't let her do it - imagine life with a manipulative 13 year old! how to cope now
1 don't feed her anything that is made of massed, processed, goo, forced through factories into packaging designed to manipulate mums.
2 don't offer her any choices
3 only feed her food that the creator made naturally and you cooked
4 reward her with stars and prizes (not food - try stories, games) for eating all her main meal (not desert)
don't let her drink soda - it is loaded with chemicals designed to spike sugar cravings
5 enjoy your happy and healthy child ( she may take two or three days to come around as the addictive chemicals have to get out of her system

by the way I've raised 3 teens who have never had a course of antibiotics, doctors visit or day off school, they are all honor roll students, all slept through the night and are a pleasure to be with.

you can and will win the current battle with a few days of perseverance and will enjoy the rest of your time together - enjoy her she is precious

Spagetti is a great thing cuz u can add all kinds of veggies. I would suggest a veggie platter with dip. Finger foods are always more fun and the dip will help disguise the taste of anything she doesnt really like. A cool idea for fruits is to freeze grapes or berries and thenuse them as edible ice cubes. or banana pops- cut bananas in half, put a popsicle stick through the middle, then place on a cookie sheet and freeze. When they're frozen u can dip them in melted chocolate or peanutbutter and add raisons, nuts or sprinkles. Good luck My son likes vegetables when I put butter on them and add some salt and pepper also. Mix it up and it taste really good.
Also something I feed him is vegetable soup. Now since he is only 13 months old. I drain all the juice out and warm up the vegetables and noodles. He enjoys eating it and its healthy for him. It has vegetables, meat, and noodles in it.
I feed my son hot dogs only once a week at the most. He loves them but I know there not good for him.
Another thing you can try is potatoes. Put some low fat butter and salt and pepper on it. He likes it.
I hope I have helped you some.

fruits: in a blender put half a ripe banana, frozen strawberries and enough orange juice to almost but not quite cover, blend really good, if it's too thick add a little more orange juice.
veggies: get small skinny carrots and with a peeler make them skinnier, use to skewer teriyaki marinated pieces of, zucchini, sweet yellow and red pepper, maybe onion cause when it's cooked it's sweet, cook these kebabs grilled or broiled with plenty of the marinade. Oh yeah you gotta poke a hole it the veggies to get them on the carrot
