my toddler is 15 months old and hasnt started walking independently yet .?
Answers:
Your toddler is NORMAL, healthy and active in her own way!
I haven't any children, BUT I have worked with 0 to 3 year olds for the past 15 years...
I have changed alot of diapers than most people and have seen ALOT of toddlers grow up, and sometimes they come back for a visit (when they are 6, 8, 11 or even 14!).
Your toddler WILL walk, and she WILL RUN!
You're doing a great job not rushing her, but you must feel a little desperate if she's not up to speed with the rest of the chn her age?
Or the pressure is on from family comments?
Everyone here has made a comment that their toddler didn't walk by so and so months.
I'm here to confirm I've looked after approximatetly 400 children in my care in this age group, and atleast 90 of them walked from ages 12-19 months... they're just at a stage where THEY WANT TO BE SURE the walking moves are on just at the right time!
She's still developing so much confidence with her body mass. She's still discovering her free mid line balance!
By at least 19months, most toddlers walk...
You'll probably notice that when she does start to walk without holding on, they won't be careful steps, but more so confident strides!
:)
I bet she's quick in her crawl too? Won't be long now!

Try being very close to her when she starts to let go. Give her vocal encouragement and hold out your hands to her. Try to get her to come to you. Let her know that it's okay to let go. Reward her when she does let go even if it's only for a few moments. She is scared and there's probably a reason for it, but there's no reason you can't help her build up her confidence.
my daughter was 16 months. Don't worry! Every child is different. Mine is 5 now and can outrun me up mountains.
Not all kids are the same, son started at 18 months and daughter started at 7 , so it will come.

Was your child a preemie? My 3 year old was. And he was behind in everything. Walking, Talking, etc. He started walking on his own almost around the same age as your child. If you are really concerned, check with your child's pediatrican. Or, you can try

From my own experience.
Dont worry about it, my god daughter started walking at 1 year and 8 months, and shes very smart and walks very well. also myself i started walking after the age of two and im 27 yrs old and walk very fine. i walked very late b-cause i was pre-mature, maybe that could b ur childs case, if thats not the case dont worry any way, my god daughter wasnt pre-mature and she walked late. just give ur child some time she'll start walking when shes ready, dont force her and GOOD LUCK!
have someone hold her up while she is standing, get in front of her she will try to take a step or two toward you.if she does clap your hands to give her more confidence.
ma nephew is 18 mths and he still not walking however hes had a few tests done and seams to be okay however hes had to have some spechal shoes to help him walk best advise to give is talk to ur gp or helth visitor its very worring but try not to worry some kids dont walk till there 2 i wish ya luck
Don't worry. My daughter was 16 months before she would walk. she use to walk on her knees everywhere she went. I would for about 10 minutes a day a practice the walking. I never pushed, if she didn't want to walk I did not make her. Then one day she just took off. So it will happen when they are ready.
Every child moves at a different pace. Just give it a little more time. I some times wish mine was still at that pace, in stead of being a Little 3yr. old back talker.
