I have an 19 month old that just babbles how can I get him to speak more?
Answers:
talk to him or dont answer him til he speaks or says something you can understand. IF this doesnt work, get him tested for delays.
Dont fall for that " Oh boys are slower than girls, he;ll talk later " if your gut tells you something isn't right, listen to it
Don't let him watch television or other media-- he need to get interested in communicating with people. If he is delayed he needs lots of one-on-one time with people talking to him and around him. Constant, family-style speech "therapy." He will get talking in no time.
Have you asked the pedatrician and have they checked his hearing?
When he whines for something (lets say juice) don't just give it to him....label it for him and try to get him to imitate you...Read books with him (even the same book over and over is a good idea) and label the pictures for him...
try blowing bubbles and try to get him to say it before you blow more (bubbles are very motivating and its a pretty easy word for babies)
