how can a pre-school child sharing something claim it back?

MY 4 YR OLD SON KNOWS ABOUT SHARING BUT NOT MUCH ABOUT GETTING WHATS HIS BACK

Answers:
Well snitching is bad because children then learn no ways of settling minor "getting a toy back" problem on their own. IT'S I'LL TELL MY DAD/MOM ON YOU. DO you really want to hear bobby threw sand at me, i got knocked down, he took my shovel ALL THE TIME. Children have to learn problem solving on their own without adult interference. If violence is involved biting pinching shoving it's okay for an adult to say you can't do that. Otherwise ASK your kid when he won't give you your toy what do you do..that FOSTERS THINKING SKILLS AND PROBLEM SOLVING. Don't give them all your answers you guide don't dictate. You snitch on major offences not spilt milk even a TODDLER can be tault that diffrence.

Other Answers:
Explain to your son to use his words to get the toy back and if that doesn't work to go to an adult for help.
i always tell my 4 year old that if he wants his toys back he should just ask for it: 'you've had a turn, now can i have a turn please?'. i also tell him if that doesn't work to tell his friend how he feels, but calmly (rather than come & tell me, i hate snitching). and just wait until the friend leaves, he will get his toy back eventually.
You need to tell him to tell an adult. In this situation the other child has clearly not been taught to share like your child has. You can't educate other people's children. The child probably has ignorant parents and in my experience some adults encourage their children not to share. In fact for a short while we took our child to a Montessori school and we discovered that children were being encouraged NOT to share.

Your child needs to learn to stand up for himself but you don't want him to fight back. An adult needs to step in and resolve it.

As for the above answer reading "I hate snitching". What a terrible example that is to set your children. Ignore authority? Take matters into your own hands? Don't get involved if you see something wrong, and stay out of it? If your child saw a teen mug an old lady, what should he do? Snitch? I damn well hope so. Why do we regard "snitching" as a bad thing? To me it is something that only ignorant people discourage.

Sorry for being so blunt but she just hit a nerve. My wife was attacked when she was pregnant and the attacker claimed I had hit my wife and he was only trying to help and she must be afraid of me. The witness told the police she "didn't want to get involved" and he walked away without even being arrested. Please teach your children to "snitch".
