I'm trying to potty train my two year old, but it's not going so well. any tips?
Answers:
i did the bribery thing too and it seems to work pretty well. one m&m for just sitting on the potty, two if she pees, and three if she poops.
we also make a huge deal when she goes, even though she's been in panties now for a while. just keeping the joy alive, you know?
i also had to stop giving her full sippy cups of anything, especially in hot weather, because she'll gulp it down then won't get to the potty fast enough to prevent an accident.
we're also using the incentive of a big girl bike when she's completely out of diapers. that's a ways away, though; she sleeps really heavy at night and is still attached to her milk night-cap.
keep in mind, too, that it's very often a two-steps-forward, one-step-back kinda thing. you think you're a certain way along the road to being diaper-free, then all of a sudden they're back in pull-ups and you're having to sell the panties to them again.
if you know another kid who's already trained, maybe have them over for a play date? so your girl can see that it's not just at other people's houses.
when you get home and right before you leave, take her to the potty (if she'll go.) i make it a requirement whenever i can - you can have your juice and snack, just as soon as you go to the potty.
good luck!

Just keep trying I assure you by the time she is 18 she will be potty trained... Seriously do not stress her about it, she will eventually get it.
I am going through the same thing. My daughter will go in her room and pee on the floor....but she can hold it all night and use the potty in the morning. So she is ready but for some reason she just won't go when she should. I keep her in panties though, she doesn't like to mess them up, that seems to help. And I ask her like every 10 mins or so. I guess just consistency is the best way. good luck. Keep trying patience she'll get it
Ditch the daiper, after a while she won't like feeling icky after soiling herself and will stop. Praise her successful attempts, look sad at her failed ones.Stock up on floor cleaners. all shall pass.
she needs incentive. bribe her. it worked for my kid. They have a little potty seat that plays music when you sit on it and when you pee in it. Ive heard from a few people that it works for them. I wouldnt suggest awarding any type of food or candy. Ive read that that can lead to obesity. Just let her do it when shes ready.. Dont force her or she will not want to go.. Hang in there she will get it.. I am in the process of potty training my daughter.. She is 2 too so I know how you feel..
