How many nice outfits and how many play outfits should a 4 year old preschooler have?

There are no limits my child has all nice outfits because I like nothing but the best for my kids. I need to get some play clothing because sometime they mess up their cute clothes. I think they should around 10+ nice clothes and 14- play clothing. I hope this help you!!!

Thats a hard one, you could have some nice outfits that end up being play outfits after one meal...My kids drawer was always full with everyting under the sun. I would reserve 2 or 3 for special occasions like visiting the grand parents or attending a house of worship, otherwise, let your kid be a kid and get dirty and do lots of wash!!!
I would recommend a larger number of play outfits over nice outfits. A 4 year old child is more likely to do alot of playing as opposed to needed nice outfits. Of course this also depends on how often the child goes places that require a nice outfit. I would recommend a ratio of about 3 play outfits to every 1 nice outfit. So for example if your child has 6 play outfits I would recommend at least 2 nice outfits. Keep in mind that not every occasion requires nice clothes (such as a quick trip to the store) and as long as the play clothes don't look too bad they can also be worn. I hope this has been helpful.

My life of experience raising children for foster care and adoption.
I like to get things in color coordination for each season. So I'll buy 4 pants 2 skirts and then coordinate with 5-6 shirts. Also, if its fall, I try to have two sweaters/or cardigans and a heavy jacket. Play clothes are usually 3-4 pants and 6-8 shirts long and short sleeve included. Also, I have 3 pairs of p.j.'s for her. Shopping while coordinating with existing outfits helps a lot.
well i think a 4 year old should have maybe 3weeks of nice clothes go to a thrift store or garage sales for the play clothes, and soon some of the nice clothes will become play clothes also.
That depends on two things how dirty your child gets when they play and how social you are.My experience with being a Pre-School Teacher forced me to take alot of notes in that field.I say an outfit for every holiday (that YOUR FAMILY celebrates) and a couple of pairs of shorts and some shirts that you can mix and match and that's easy to keep up (remove stains) OH and buy it a size or two bigger so you don't have to worry about shrinkage.
