Hey moms, is this normal?

Ever since I gave birth(2-1/2 years ago) my hips have been popping. It is getting to the point where I'm hurting and aching really bad. Does this happen to anyone else?

Answers:
YES!!! My left hip does this, my husband is a resident in Orthopedic Surgery and saysI most likely tore my labrum during labor but it is impossible to know unless I get x-rays and I just haven't gotten around to it yet, but its only been 9months for me. You should first go see a chiropractor, they will take x-rays, you may just need an alignment but if it is more then they will refer you to an Ortho.

Other Answers:
Uhhh, not me. You should talk to your doctor about it.

Not really I would get it checked out. During pregnancy your pelvis widen to allow the baby to pass through...maybe yours never went back correctly after the baby and it makes your hips pop. Ask your ob/gyn about it.

(Go see the doctor of course) but I have found it was not from giving birth so much- but from lugging around a toddler. I have had back and hip problems and they get much worse when I have been carrying the kids around a lot. I ended up having a bone scan and have to see a physiotherapist to get everything lined up properly.

My hips didn't pop. But if you think somethings up with that then go to the doctors.

I had my baby 2years and 4months ago and my hips still pop. My mom says that its normal. It scares me but she had 7 children so I try to listen to her. my mom had a baby 2 years ago and she does not have this problem . i would call a docter he can help

No it isn't normal. You should see a doctor. It may be your joints or bone density.

I'm not sure if it's "normal", but I have it too. My hips started hurting very badly during pregancy because of the weight of the baby, and ever since I gave birth to my first I've had popping.

i think it depends on your size during and then after your pregnancy... my hips never poped before i was pregnant but now they do all the time..like with every step but it also could be cause by other things Yes, this happens according to my Obgyn, to alot of moms. It's lack of calcium that the baby leeched from your bones. A daily vitamin and maybe a calcium supplement may help. Good luck!

i had a c-section and I still have this problem i think it's from carring that baby for 9 months it seems to get worse if I try lifting and carring my 3 year old around or do other heavy lifting.... bet an arobic ball ( those really big balls) and work out on it...I've done squats and hip and thigh execizes that have helped...alot!

no go to a doctor you could have a serious poblem

i have had four children and have never had any problem like you are describing. i would definetly see a doctor, just hope you have insurance!! if you don't there should be some place you can go where they base fees on your income. and after two and 1/2 years, i would say this is not normal, i sure have never heard of it before. Mine do that but it doesn't bother me at all. Almost every time I get up out of my chair at work, they pop. It's funny.

I have 3 kids and my hips do that often but it isnt painful, i would talk to ur doctor about it and see what they say.

I had the same problem! It's very weird. It probably isn't normal, however we all know that when you're pregnant and give birth you'll never be the same again. My guess is it is caused by the stretching of the hips and pubic synthesis (a piece of cartillage) during childbirth. I just gave birth 2 weeks ago and now that I think of it, the poping has stoped since this last pregnancy. I never got it checked out, but I think you should.

Hi - I have the same problem - and my youngest are 14 months old (twins) and my oldest is 2 1/2 - I'm not sure if this is considered "normal" but I have other friends who have the same problem - but if it's really concerning to you and bothering you like you say it does - you might want to have it checked out

personal experience

Well, I've always popped my knuckles and stuff since I was younger, so when my hips started to pop after giving birth, it just felt normal to me... But, if pain or discomfort is an issue, definitely consult with your doctor, as it might be something other than just the popping... the popping might be triggering something else that is causing the pain and aches.
