What do you think of taking a four year old jogging?
Do you think it's strange to take her jogging with me when I go outside?
I mean...I've never seen a kid jogging alongside their parent. But I was thinking it might be kind of nice for some time to spend together, so I don't have to wait until she's in bed or gone for the day.
But it seems kind of weird to act like I'm trying to get a four year old in shape. Any thoughts?
Answers:
I think it is great, you two are bonding and she is developing healthy enjoyable lifestyle.
The key, don't over do it.
First try going to the corner and back, next day corner to corner, etc. so you get an idea of her limits.
Take some apple juice or something, so she has plenty to drink.
If she is tired, start walking, don't stop teach her about stretching and getting her heart pulse down slowly, amazingly she'll understand.
Make sure she wears sun block and go out early in the morning or when the sun is not harsh.
Enjoy your time together.

nope. too much for a growing girl
I think it's a great idea.....it's like a personal bonding time between the both of you. I don't see anything wrong with this....i mean, it's not like you'd be dragging her out there; as long as she's willing and able to
jogging might be a little to much for her age group, jogging out side is a bit of a different work out than on a treadmill. But if she has a bike and helmet, (even if it has training wheels) You guys could still get that quality time outside together, only it wont be so hard for her to keep up.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as you're limiting it.BUT, since she likes running around so much, I recommend that you play games like "tag", or soccer, where running is involved. That way she's still getting physical activity, but it's in a fun way.
Plus, if you take her jogging, aren't you pretty much just walking alongside her? Short legs next to long legs?
I take all 3 of my kids with me and my oldest is 5 he jogs with me and the other 2 are in a stroller made for running or jogging they love it. Its good family time and exercise.
