My child cries when dropped of for preschool. Any suggestions on how to help her cope?

I read in a magazine where the mother will draw a heart on their own palm and the palm of their child then touch them together and tell the child that if they get lonely or miss mom, that they can touch the heart and know that she loves them and will be back soon.
I thought it was a good idea. I don't have kids in preschool yet so I don't know anything from experience.
Are you allowed to be there for a while?
And tell her you'll come and get her after a couple hours don't worry. Give her reassurance.
Believe it or not, she stops less than 5 minutes after you leave. Mine used to be Horrible. Talk the preschool teachers about how she is after you leave. You will find she is fine.
